Helping you thrive in secondary school, one tap at a time!
The aim of this campaign for Year 8 children is to promote positive health messages through a package of Apps to be shared and promoted by the School Nurse at Year 8 Health Appraisals during the academic year 2024/25.
School Nurse - Text-a-Nurse service
The service is aimed at 11 to 19 year olds and will be delivered by the School Nursing Teams. This new scheme will allow young people to seek advice about sensitive health issues without a face to face appointment. School nurses will provide help on a range of issues including, emotional health and wellbeing, alcohol and drugs, sexual health, bullying and general health issues.
Students
Start secondary school feeling strong and ready! These apps are like personal guides to help you stay focused, manage your moods, build confidence, and enjoy each day feeling in control and supported.
Parents
Give your child the tools to grow confidently, stay focused, and manage stress as they embark on this new chapter, with resources that support their well-being and build resilience every step of the way.
These positive health and wellbeing apps are free at the point of use and have been independently evaluated to ensure they meet digital and clinical safety standards. We envisage the apps to be used in an “out-of-school” setting in view of the current Department of Education’s guidance regarding use of mobile phone in schools. We also wish to emphasise that these apps are to be used as an adjunct and complementary to current School Nursing provisions.
